Abilify and Children
There is no concrete medical research, as there are only personal commentaries, opinions and references from separate people who have special needs children and who share their opinion on forums and in other social resources. Well, there are a lot of likely stories about the influence of Abilify on children, and most of them differ in a complete way! One story tells, for example, tells about a nine-year-old girl who had ‘fits’ and ‘smacked her head off the floor’ sometimes, who started taking Abilify under parent’s control, and at the beginning it worked miracles. But after two months she started gaining weight and all hysteria started to come back. In the long six-month run, the medication didn’t work! One more story tells about a seven-year-old boy who was disruptive at school fought with everyone and was also rolling on the floor from time to time, like the above mentioned nine-year-old girl, and after the mom got down to giving him Abilify 5 mg, and he started to go from good to better step by step, but the mom doesn’t want him to become a ‘zombie’. The boy seems to be sleepy for all time he takes the medicine, and it work only as long as he takes that. The mammy seems to be glad about the improvement of her son, but she doesn’t know how long it is going to continue and what consequences it is going to have! The boy was diagnosed ODD at four, and one can understand his mother who seeks for hope in every medicine.
So, judging by these two stories one can say that one can’t say for sure whether Abilify and children are compatible or the other way round, but if you have a child, suffering from the disease cured by Abilify, you are recommended to have a try! The child’s reaction may be negative of course, but as you know this medication has very few side effects and it is gonna do serious damage to your infant’s health. All questions are to be addressed to your health consultant, and you are to decided to take or not take together with him only.
Good health to your children!
